Sullia APCMC Election: BJP-JD (S) Combine Faces Reverses

Daijiworld Media Network - Sullia (SP)

Sullia, Jun 12: Sullia is considered a strong bastion of the BJP. However, in the election held for the nine posts of the Taluk Agricultural Produce Marketing Committee here on Thursday June 11, the people gave a thorough drubbing to the BJP and its alliance partner, JD (S). While the Congress bagged eight seats, the opposition alliance had to be content with only a single seat.

P C Jayaram, Nityanand Mundody, Manohar, Gundanna Naik, Seetaram, K Vishwanath Rai and Samshuddin became victorious from the Congress while Shilesh Ambekallu’s victory came as the only consolation for the BJP. Stalwarts like Jake Madhav Gowda, Pandurang Rao, Mohammed Iqbal Elimale etc who were fielded by the opposition alliance had to taste defeat.

In a clear indication that 'Operation Hand' had worked in the election, Congress leaders got more than what they can get as per calculations. Out of the 29 societies in the taluk, 15 are ruled by the Congress while the other 14 are with the BJP-JD (S) alliance. The success has come as a sweet rejuvenator for the Congress that has been suffering thorough defeats in the taluk since long.
