Mangalore: Former Legislator Jayaram Shetty Criticizes MLA Khader's Stance

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangalore (SP)

Mangalore, Jun 15: Former MLA K Jayaram Shetty has criticized MLA U T Khader for his remarks about the cancellation of Chief Minister (CM) B S Yeddyurappa's visit to the sea erosion areas in Ullal near here, during the CM’s visit to the sit for taking part in the ‘Vikasa Sankalp’ programme. He has condemned Khader for trying to politicize the issue.

"As the coast including Ullal had not received enough rains, the sea had not turned rough. Even if the CM had visited the spots, he would not have been able to properly get acquainted with their actual problems. As per the advice of the officials, he cancelled the visit at the last minute. The MLA's efforts to politicize the issue are regrettable," he said in a statement.

"At the 'Vikasa Sankalp' programme held in the city by the state government, compensation and facilities under various schemes had been distributed to beneficiaries, several of whom came from Ullal. Khader, who represents the area, was expected to take part in the function as the chief guest, but opted to stay away because of malicious intentions. The programme was to keep the people informed of the government's achievements and not to dole out promises," he noted.
