Daijiworld Media Network - Beltangady (SP)

Beltangady, Jun 15: The policemen, investigating the case of siphoning off diesel and petrol from the underground pipeline of MRPL that carries processed oil from Mangalore to Bangalore, by a racket at Dondole forest near Dharmasthala, have succeeded in confiscating the vehicles used by the oil thieves for their crime.

A Maruti Omni vehicle, which the thieves reportedly used, was seized by the policemen. It is gathered that the vehicle stands hypothecated to a bank in Mangalore. The tanker used by the thieves for the transportation of the oil has also been taken into possession by the policemen.  With this, the racket involved with the theft appears to have been delivered a deadly blow.

The policemen are seeking to make more arrests. It is said, some of those involved are being shielded by political bigwigs while some others have gone underground.
