Mangaluru: Bahrain Konkans donates fund for Pompei College mid-day meal

Mangaluru, Aug 27: Bahrain Konkans, an organization of like-minded people of coastal Karnataka origin residing in Bahrain, recently contributed Rs 1 lac toward mid-day meal scheme of Pompei College Aikala.

During a formal function held at the college auditorium, Bahrain Konkans representatives Vincent Sequeira and Shabita Melvin Rodrigues handed over a cheque to college principal, Prof K Jagadish Holla.

The principal thanked the members of Bahrain Konkans and assured that the amount donated will be utilized for the said purpose with full justice.



Addressing the gathering, Melvin Mendonca of Bahrain Konkans, called upon the students not to feel disheartened at any stage as that the world was full of opportunities.

He also requested them not to forget society when they progress in life.

Thanking Bahrain Konkans, Rocky G Lobo, superintendent, said, “We find very few people like Bahrain Konkans in society. Your helping hands and well wishes are sure to go a long way in helping us continue to serve the poor and the needy."

Richard Sequeira, convener and James Oliver, former convener of the mid-day meal scheme were present.

Prof Nemichandra Gowda M, HOD of Kannada, compered the programme. Prof Yogindra B proposed the vote of thanks.
