Bangalore: KRV Activists Storm KPSC Exam Centre, Destroy Scripts

Bangalore, Jul 6 : Activists of Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) attacked a centre in the city, where the examination for the posts of gram panchayat assistants was being conducted by Karnataka Public Service Commission, on Sunday July 5. They disrupted the examination for some time, under the misconception that the examination was meant for recruiting railway employees.
The KRV activists, who arrived at Kamalabai School within the High Grounds police station limits here, had been under the notion that the examination was meant to absorb employees for the railways. The activists said, the north Indians had appeared for the examination in large numbers in the state, at the expense of the candidates from the state. After learning that it was an examination meant for the gram panchayat assistants, they expressed regret and vacated the place.
At the same time, KRV activists attacked Railway Recruitment Board examinations being held in other places in Bangalore and Mysore, including another hall of the Kamala Bai School, disrupting the process. They barged into the halls and tore away the answer sheets. The policemen arrested 12 KRV activists including leader Pravin Shetty in Bangalore. The policemen said later, that the arrested persons were remanded to judicial custody.
The examination resumed thereafter without further hitches. In Mysore, the activists raised slogans and disrupted proceedings at Yuvaraja College. Examination in six others centres in Mysore went on peacefully. A railway official in charge of the examination said, that a re-examination will be held for the 27 candidates who appeared for the examination at Yuvaraja College, later.
