Chennai, Jul 8: Former Indian cricketer Suresh Raina is all set to don a new avatar, making his acting debut in Tamil cinema. The announcement came as a surprise to fans after the cricketer shared a teaser on his official X handle, unveiling his first film under the banner of Dream Knight Stories.
The film, currently titled Production No 1, is directed by Logan, known for Tamil hits like Maan Karate, Remo, and Gethu. The teaser, released at a grand launch event, features a mysterious figure walking across a cricket stadium, cheered by the crowd — later revealing Raina’s silhouette and ending with his face embossed on a gold coin.
“From cricket fields to Kollywood frames bringing Chennai’s spirit with me. Proud to join this new journey with Dream Knight Stories Private Limited,” Raina posted, delighting his fans, especially those who fondly call him “Chinna Thala” — a nod to his Chennai Super Kings legacy.
Chennai Super Kings teammate Shivam Dube lit the ceremonial lamp and wished the team success. The event drew a large turnout from the Tamil film industry, with noted figures like directors Mohan Raja, Vijay Milton, and actor Sathish in attendance.
The film boasts a star-studded technical crew including composer Santhosh Narayanan, cinematographer Sandeep K Vijay, production designer Muthuraj, Oscar-winning sound designer Resul Pookutty, and action director Supreme Sundar. It is produced by D Saravanakumar, formerly with AGS Entertainment.
When asked about the chances of MS Dhoni appearing in the film, Raina responded with a smile, “He should answer that one!” Director Logan expressed his enthusiasm, calling the project a dream start with an exceptional team.
With cricket and cinema fans buzzing, Raina’s cinematic innings has begun on a high note.
