Mumbai, Jul 8: Acclaimed filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar, known for his hard-hitting narratives like Chandni Bar, Page 3, Fashion, and Traffic Signal, has kicked off production on his next film, The Wives, in Mumbai.
Featuring an ensemble cast including Sonali Kulkarni, Mouni Roy, Regina Cassandra, Rahul Bhatt, Saurabh Sachdeva, Arjan Bajwa, and Freddy Daruwala, the film delves into the hidden realities of women’s lives behind the glamour of Bollywood.
“With The Wives, I want to peel back yet another glamorous layer of society and show what really lies beneath,” Bhandarkar said. “It will be a bold, unapologetic look at the secrets, struggles, and resilience of women who are often seen but rarely heard.”

Known for portraying the gritty truths behind dazzling facades, Bhandarkar returns to familiar territory—exposing the underbelly of high society and the film industry. This film also marks his second collaboration with producer Pranav Jain of P J Motion Pictures, following the critically appreciated India Lockdown.
“Working with Madhur sir again is thrilling,” Jain said. “The Wives is a powerful story that’s both timely and eye-opening.”
Produced by Bhandarkar Entertainment and P J Motion Pictures, the film promises to be a provocative addition to Bhandarkar’s repertoire of socially reflective cinema.
