Metro In Dino faces box office blues despite star cast

Mumbai, Jul 8: Anurag Basu's much-anticipated romantic drama Metro In Dino, billed as the spiritual sequel to Life In A Metro (2007), is facing a tough time at the box office. After a modest start on July 4, the film showed some weekend growth but saw a noticeable dip in collections on its first Monday.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 2.50 cr on Day 4, taking its total collection to Rs 19.25 cr. With a reported budget of Rs 85 crore, the film is now inching toward the Rs 20-cr milestone. The overall Hindi occupancy on July 7 stood at just 15.66 percent.

In a bid to boost footfalls, the makers have announced special ticket pricing at Rs 99 for Tuesday.

The film boasts a powerful ensemble cast including Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Sara Ali Khan, Aditya Roy Kapur, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Ali Fazal, and Saswata Chatterjee. Set in the bustling metros of Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, and Bengaluru, Metro In Dino explores the complexities of modern-day relationships.

Presented by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in association with Anurag Basu Productions, the film also marks the reunion of director Anurag Basu and music composer Pritam, known for previous musical hits like Barfi!, Life In A Metro, and Ludo.

The film is produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Anurag Basu, and Taani Basu.
