Bengaluru: BJP decides to concentrate on winning assembly bypolls

Bengaluru, Sep 7: The BJP decided at its state level core committee meeting held here on Friday September 6, that its organizational units should begin preparations in earnestness to win the seats which may go to polls on account of disqualification of 17 legislators. The party would be guided by the single goal of winning all these assembly constituencies, rather than who from among the disqualified MLAs will cross over to the BJP.

This happened to be the first ever meeting of the state core committee of their party after the party formed the state government with B S Yediyurappa at the helm, and Nalin Kumar Kateel became the state BJP president. Prolonged discussions about bypolls to 17 constituencies, preparing for election to four legislative council seats, and membership drive of the party.

State BJP general secretary, Aravind Limbavali, giving information after the meeting, said that the meeting decided to prepare the field in the 17 constituencies where bypolls are expected to be held, for the victory of party candidates. He noted that the disqualified legislators are fighting against the assembly speaker's order in the Supreme Court and added that the party will be preparing to ensure victory of its candidates in those constituencies.
