Udupi, Oct 1: Two brothers from Karamballi Rambettu near Manipal had consumed excessive quantities of liquor. The younger brother died due to intake of liquor in large quantities, while the elder brother has become sick.

The incident came into the open on Sunday September 29 evening.

Umesh (40) lost his life in the incident. His elder brother Ravi Naik (50), who has become very sick, is being treated at the government hospital at Ajjarkad here. His condition is said to be serious.

Umesh used to work as auto rickshaw driver in Manipal. Ravi works in KMC Hospital Manipal. They live in the same house, and were heavily addicted to liquor. It is said that none of their relatives were close to them.

The two had returned home heavily drunk about ten days back. The neighbours had not seen them since then. As the locals noticed that foul smell was emanating from this house, they informed the police. The police broke open the door of the house and went in.

The police reportedly saw that Umesh had died some days back and his decomposed body was spreading foul smell. Ravi was lying in a room of the house, too weak to move.
