Mangaluru: Confirmation, inauguration of Extraordinary Missionary Month held at St Joseph Vaz Church

Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 1: 27 children of St Joseph Vaz Church, Mudipu on September 29 received the Sacrament of Confirmation from the Bishop of Mangaluru, Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.

Fr Benjamin Pinto, Fr Shaun Rodrigues along with the parish Pastoral Parishad members gave a floral welcome to the bishop after which he took catechism for the candidates. This was followed by a eucharistic celebration.

In his homily, the bishop gave a call to witness Christ by deeds if needed by words. He officially inaugurated the extraordinary missionary month and invited the children to be part of the Pontifical Association of Holy Childhood so that they may inculcate a love for the mission.

As this was the first visit by the bishop to St Joseph Vaz Church, he was felicitated on behalf of all the parishioners and as a sign of his first visit he planted a plant thereby exhibiting his love for nature. He also held a meeting with the St Joseph Vaz Shrine committee given the annual feast which will be held in the last week of November giving his valuable suggestions.
