Case against Mumbai man who committed suicide after killing girlfriend

Mumbai, Oct 2: Police here registered a case against Mangesh Rane, 24, who allegedly stabbed his 17-year-old girlfriend to death and committed suicide by jumping off the balcony of her 10th floor apartment.

As per police, the mishap occurred in Mumbai's suburban Malad on Monday afternoon when Mangesh visited his girlfriend at her home. “A heated argument followed between the couple. Provoked Mangesh stabbed the girl multiple times, before slitting his own wrists and jumping off the balcony of her 10th floor apartment,” said the police, as reported in PTI.

Mangesh died on the spot. The girl, though rushed to a nearest hospital, passed away while undergoing an emergency surgery.

The police registered a case against Mangesh under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 309 (attempt to commit suicide), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman, and sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
