Mangaluru: ICYM organises road repair, Swachh Bharath Abhiyan

Mangaluru, Oct 2: On the occasion of the 150th birthday celebration of the Father of our Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM), Cordel unit organized 'Road Repair and Swachh Bharath Abhiyan' on Tuesday October 2.

The programme began with an inaugural ceremony.

Former mayor, Bhaskara K was present and appreciated the youth for taking such an initiative. Fr Victor Machado, vicar of Kulshekar church congratulated the youth for conducting the programme outside the church premises.



Assistant parish priest, Fr Lawrence Cuthinha, vice-president of the Parish Pastoral Council, Loy Noronha and secretary, Saturnine Monteiro, Icym president, Rahul Sequeira were present. Meenal Pinto compered the programme.

The gathering was divided into two teams. One team headed from the church premises toward Kaikamba, cleaning and removing plastic and non-degradable waste beside the road. The other team filled the potholes which were causing uneasiness for the travellers for the past two months.

A total of 60 youths and around 25 parishioners participated in the programme. Along with the youth, autorickshaw drivers and Kiran Enterprises extended a helping hand for this noble cause.
