Bengaluru, Oct 3: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials, who are investigating the alleged phone tapping of political rivals and others during the previous government, questioned assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Ramachandra, for about five hours on Wednesday, October 2.

Ramachandra, who has currently been posted to civil rights enforcement directorate, arrived at the office of the CBI officials in Kumara Krupa guest house here at 12 pm on Wednesday and remained there till evening.

Ramachandra was working as ACP of central crime branch. He also was overseeing the technical department at Adugodi. It is said that under instruction from a senior IPS officer, he had tapped phones of political leaders and officials. For this purpose, he had bought two mobile phones and SIM cards and used to tap phones from his home, it is said.

Allegedly, as soon as he came to know that the CBI was investigating the matter, he had tried to destroy the evidences by throwing away SIM cards and mobile phones. The CBI officials had subjected Ramachandra to questioning twice earlier and grilled him again on Wednesday.
