Mangaluru: Youth drowns in river when swimming

Mangaluru, Oct 5: In an incident which happened on Friday October 4 afternoon at Mittabail within the limits of Bajpe police station, a youth who had ventured into a river for swimming, drowned.

The victim of this tragedy was Uday Acharya, only son of Krishna Acharya and Sumathi couple from Kaiyoor in Delantabettu. He was a first year student of industrial training institute at Karnataka Polytechnic here.

Uday was accompanied by nine friends when the group approached Nandini river at Delantabettu with the purpose of swimming. After noticing that Uday was facing peril, his friends tried their best to rescue him, but failed.

Bajpe police have registered a case and begun investigation.
