Mangaluru: Holiday camp held to benefit child sponsors of CODP

Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 8: A half-day holiday camp was organised at Puttur and Kumbla on October 1 and 2, for children benefitting under the Child Sponsorship Programme of CODP.

The camp for children of Beltangady, Bantwal, Moodbidri and City deaneries was held in CODP Mangaluru on October 3 and 4.

The programme started with prayer song and welcome by CSP coordinator to the beneficiary children/students and their accompanying parents.

After the prayer, an icebreaker game was conducted to keep the children in good and active mood. The children enjoyed the game.

In the camp held in CODP, Fr Oswald Monteiro, director of CODP addressed the participants.

In his speech he welcomed all the children, students and their parents. After giving some instructions, he told the children that they should study well and get high marks in their examination. Those who get low marks will not find good jobs due to high competition in the job market. He told them to work hard and do their best in the exams.

He also told the children/students that once they get good jobs they should contribute their mite, to help the other needy children. He gave an example of one child sponsorship beneficiary who was assisted for his schooling, and after completing degree he secured a good job.

Not forgetting the sacrifices by his sponsor parents, he is now sending donations to CODP to help other needy children.

Three children had secured prizes in a drawing competition organized by Charita Praha, Czech Republic in October 2018. The children namely Seema DSouza-Bela, Frincia Rodrigues-Karopady and Edward DSouza-Nidpalli were awarded cash prize and certificates during the holiday camp programme.

After a few games and group singing, the camp was concluded with a vote of thanks by the children to their sponsors, donor agencies and CODP.
