Kundapur, Oct 10: A fire tragedy which happened inside a fishing boat claimed the life of a fisherman.

Babu Poojary (56), a resident of Maski Sheetrahithlu in Navunda village, who suffered severe burn injuries in the accident, breathed his last at a hospital on the night of Tuesday, October 8.

Babu had sustained these injuries after a kerosene stove used to make tea accidentally fell on him. This accident had happened at around 5 am on October 6 at Gangolli port when Babu Poojary was making tea inside a boat named 'Matsyamrutha' owned by Raghavendra Devadiga. He had suffered grievous burn injuries in the accident and became unconscious. He was taken to the district hospital at Udupi in that condition. Thereafter, he was admitted into a private hospital with the hope that his life could be saved, but those hopes were dashed as he did not recover.
