Mumbai, Sep 11: A differently abled woman, aged 25, who worked as a domestic help was raped by a man and his friend here. The culprits, Lakhan Kaale (20) and Sandip Kurhade (22), are residents of Thane and were arrested on Monday.

The woman who cannot speak and hear, worked in a residential society in Bandra East. On Sunday afternoon she left the building and when she did not return, her employer informed her parents who in-turn lodged a complaint at Kherwadi police station.

During enquiry, police found out that the woman's mobile phone was active and her location showed Thane. On Monday morning she was found at Dadar station with one of the accused Kurhade. It was then that she broke down and told her ordeal to the police by writing down everything. The police immediately took Kurhade into custody and during interrogation he admitted that the woman was raped.

As per TOI report, Khurde told police that he had met the woman through a common friend and took her to his home to introduce her to his parents as he wanted to marry her. As his parents did not give him permission to marry her, he asked his friend, Kaale to drop her back to her workplace in Bandra. However, Kaale allegedly took the woman to a room in Thane and raped her.

Police registered an FIR against the duo who were then produced before a court on Tuesday and sent to police custody till October 15.
