Bantwal, Aug 3: An incident wherein a person fleeing the country after cheating people of over Rs 4 lac has been reported from Vittal near here. However, his family has denied the same and claim that he has gone to Bangalore.

The person in question is Khader (45) of Marnamigudde here, a small time arecanut dealer. Now the rumours are that Khader has left for Saudi Arabia on Monday last, thus cheating people, with whom he had undertaken business in the past five years, of rupees to the tune of few lacs.

A small time arecanut dealer, Khader was involved in buying arecanut from farmers at Marnamigudde and selling it to the main arecanut dealers in Vittal. It is said that whenever the main arecanut dealers faced shortage of arecanut supply from the arecanut farmers, Khader was appointed a middleman to procure arecanut from farmers by paying in the price in advance.

As the business progressed it is said that Khader took finance from private financiers paying high interest, thus engulfing himself in debts.
