Udupi, Aug 4: Sri Krishna Mutt will celebrate Sri Krishna Masotsav, a month-long worship of Lord Krishna beginning from Krishna Janmastami on Thursday August 13 to Sri Krishna Jayanti on Saturday September 12, said Sri Sugunendrateerta Swamiji of Puttige Mutt at a press conference held at Geetha Mandir here on Monday August 3.
MP Anant Kumar will inaugurate Sri Krishna Masotsav on Thursday August 13. Union ministers S M Krishna and Veerappa Moily, New Delhi chief minister Sheela Dixit, home minister Dr V S Acharya, Goa chief minister Digambar Kamat, state minister R Ashok and D K Shivakumar among others will attend the mahotsav.
A grand offering, Arghya pradana to Sri Krishna will be held at 10.00 pm on Thursday August 13. Swagatam Krishna, a special programme to welcome Sri Krishna will be held on Friday August 14.
MP Sushma Swaraj will attend Sahasra Sri Krishna Darshan programme to be held to mark Sri Krishna Jayanti on Friday September 11. Eminent musicians and cultural artistes will stage their programmes on the occasion. Meanwhile, renowned musician R K Padmanaban will be felicitated by presenting Asthana Vidwamsa award on the day.
Mantrika Chintakara Chavadi, a programme to be held under the leadership of Chakravarti Sulibele, magic show Sri Krishna Garudi by Prahlad Acharya, music programme, Dasa Vani by Hussein Saab, Yaksha Hasyotsav by Narasimha Joshi and stand-up comedy by Pranesh Acharya, children’s programme by department of Kannada and culture and Hulivesha by women troupe will be some of the attractions during the masotsav.
Quiz on Sri Krishna to be conducted by Sri Sugunendrateerta Swamiji in the form of a conversation, lecture on Upanishad by Bannanje Govinda Acharya, lecture on Sri Krishna in Bhagavata by Sri Vishwapriyateerta Swamiji of Admar Mutt too are line up for the occasion apart from various competitions such as competition on story about Sri Krishna and curd-eating competition among others.
