Mumbai: Thane ACB arrests 3 cops for taking bribe

Kalyan, Nov 7: Thane Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested three policemen for allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000. The accused belonged to Mahatma Phule police station here.

Senior inspector Harish Kamble and constables Ankush Naravane and Bharat Khade had allegedly demanded Rs 5 lac from a gutka dealer for letting him on bail after he was caught with a consignment of banned narcotic.

The negotiations that pursued between the cops and the dealer brought down the rate to Rs 1 lac. However, the cops claimed for Rs 50,000 more causing the gutka dealer to approach the Thane ACB.

Taking cognisance of the matter the ACB ambushed and caught the three cops in the act.
