Mangaluru: Catholic Sabha, Mangaluru South Zone organize ‘Mahila Samavesha’ at Ranipura

Mangaluru, Nov 25: “While women are getting educated and coming to the mainstream, then the renaissance will happen in the community as well as in society. Nowadays government and other organizations are prioritizing women empowerment, but women should know the proper use of it,” said Saif Fr J B Saldanha, parish priest, St Sebastian Church, Permannur.

He addressed a gathering on Sunday November 24 at the inaugural ceremony of ‘Mahila Samavesha’, a conference of catholic women, Ullal region, jointly organized by Catholic Sabha, Mangaluru South Zone and Ranipura Unitat Ranipura Church.



"The Catholic Sabha should keep itself engaged in the betterment of society and community. Apart from organizing events, it should try to reach every individual. The Government has planned several programmes for individuals who are financially backward, unemployed, sick, shelterless and who have physical disabilities, but due to some reasons, it is not reaching the true beneficiaries. Catholic sabha should focus on this and help the needy to get its benefits. The service should not be limited to only the community, but they should reach the society,” he added.

Felix D Souza, president, Catholic Sabha, south zone presided over the inaugural ceremony. Irene Rebello, district co-ordinator, Karnataka Koushalya Mission and Arun John D Souza, of Digital Seva Kendra, Mangaluru threw light on the various government projects which are directly beneficial to individuals and women.

Fr Mathew Vas, director, Catholic Sabha, central committee, Fr Alfred Menezes, parish priest, Ranipura, Fr Santhosh D'Souza, Rolphie D'Costa, president, Catholic Sabha, central committee, Anil Lobo, Naveen D'Souza, Leticia D'Souza, Arun Monteiro, Joslin D'Souza, Alwyn D'Souza, Matilda Veigas were present on the dais.

The organizers also provided online facilities to apply for government benefits on the spot. Also, various women achievers from the community were felicitated by the organizers. At the event, 60 beneficiaries received their Ayushmann cards.

Felix D'Souza welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. Laveena Gretta D'Souza, rendered the vote of thanks. Cecilia Moteiro compered the event.
