Bengaluru, Nov 28: After questioning players and owners relating to Karnataka Premier League (KPL) T20 match fixing scandal, the city crime branch has served notice to international cricket player from Karnataka, Abhimanyu Mithun. It is said that Mithun, who was a member of Shivamogga Lions KPL team, was served notice asking him to appear before the authorities for questioning. Sources said that he would present himself before investigating officers on Thursday November 28.

At the same time, it is said that a woman publicity ambassador of Ballari cricket team was questioned by the police on Wednesday on the suspicion of helping to induce players for match fixing scandal through honey trap tactics. The woman, who had received the notice, came to the city crime branch office at Chamarajpet and recorded her statement. It is said that she asserted that she had done nothing wrong.

Commenting on media reports about the police commissioner writing to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to permanently ban KPL because of betting and match fixing scandals, the city police commissioner said that no such letter was written. He however wanted the BCCI to take serious note of the fact that match results are decided outside the fields.

Three persons, Sunil Jindal, owner of Hubballi Bulls team, and two players were questioned on Wednesday. The investigating officers suspect that the players were in contact with Kiran Kattimani, who owns Bijapur Bulls team. Kiran Kattimani told the media that his team is not involved with betting and match fixing. He said that they have furnished finance related documents to the investigators as sought and said that they would be waiting from the city crime branch to complete investigation and take action against the guilty.
