Mangalore, Sep 2:  A police constable attached to Bajpe police station, named Abdul Jabbar K, has alleged that Gopalakrishna Bhat, a traffic(west) sub-inspector(SI) of police behaved inhumanly with him and dragged him out of a bus he was travelling in, on the evening of Monday August 31.

Jabbar, who has got himself admitted into Mangala Hospital in the city, has requested the higher authorities in the department, to ensure that justice is done in the case. Jabbar said that SI Gopalakrishna had approached him after sensing that the tide was turning against him and requested him to forget what had happened. "Even after I introduced myself and showed my identity card, the SI displayed haughty behaviour and exhibited scorn towards me and my family. He insulted me in front of the general public and talked lightly of my religious affiliation. Forgiving him is not an option before me now. If the superintendent of police fails to provide justice to me, I will approach the court," Jabbar said.

Jabbar, who lives with his wife and two kids in Vamajoor, has been working in Bajpe police station since over six years and had recently won awards from the inspector general of police for his contribution in solving two old cases.

Jabbar said that he had asked his wife to come to the clinic of Dr Anant Pai near Jyothi Circle for consultion about his child's illness.  He explained that he was going home in the company of his wife and her elder sister, when the incident happened. "I gave my seat to a lady and sat on the iron rod adjacent to the driver's seat. Gopalakrishna barged into the bus and dragged me out by holding my collar. Even after I identified myself, he abused me in addition to my wife and sister-in-law, who had followed me. He abused my religion, snatched away my mobile phone and ID card and threatened to properly handle me," Jabbar explained.

Jabbar said, he was prepared to face legal action as necessary, if he had committed any offence, but was now determined to get justice for the atrocities, abuse of religion, using filthy language about his parents and insulting him in public.

Superintendent of police, Dr Subrahmanyeshwar Rao, said that he has sought a report from Bajpe sub-inspector of police on this incident and that action would be taken against the guilty, without fear or favour. It is learnt, Kadri police inspector Niranjan Raj Aras has been entrusted with the task of investigating the case, as the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of this police station.

This is an unclear story because every thing is “Jabbar said”. For the ultimate conclusion we should have both sides’ complaints with some eye witness. Without knowing a real story, how can expose our comments. Here is 2 questions are arising me that (1). Is it possible without any mistake Mr. Gopalakrishna Bhat, a traffic sub-inspector of police dragged him out of the bus? Is he MAD? (2). How religious matter has came over there? If we could able to find a true answer for these 2 questions then we can punish the concerned wrongdoer. Otherwise we are wasting our time.

I think its ridiculous.....If the people who are to protect us keep fighting amongst themselves over the issues of secularism,we are still not living in a free india.... Why have the people of india failed to realize that we are not hindus christians or muslims.first we are indians. And regarding the govt....govt has to take some serious steps to bann all religious groups..

Its really sad..."If the cops and their family are not safe how safe is india to live in anymore.." Why would young ppl like me stay and serve in india... It would be far better if britishers were still ruling us today... At least we wouldnt have freedom, but atleast hindus christians and muslims would have lived as bretherens... I hope atleast now we realize!!!!! Be an Indian first....Then be a hindu christian or a muslim.." Jai Hind...

Do the police have the right to use the abusive language against any one? Their job is to arrest the criminals and produce them to court. What happens when these police retire and remove their uniform and if people/police start using abusive language against them?

Moreover using abusive language is a major sin as all religious books and scholar advocate. Then why abusive language why hurt people unncessarily? People and animals have self respect. Regarding this incident let the inquiry commitee decide why we jumb on conclusions!!?

I am surprised and shocked to see the comments drifting in communual lines. An unhappy and unhealthy incident has taken place. The so called victim has lodged acomplaint and his complaint is being investigated and there is a promise from the top brass that guilty would be punished without fear and favour. Lets not jump into conclusion who is right and who is wrong. Lets look at it as matter of legal and justice issues and man assaluted here was a human being. Lets have faith in our judidiciary and whoever guilty must be punished. Nobody is above law. I request to people to shed off their communual color and paint each and every incident as communually motivated. Dirty habits and dirty culture.

The issue is that police belongs to a minority group. The question is what if the constable was a Hindu?.All you comment here is nonsence. You have not read the article clearly. It has mentioned in the first part the reason why the SI was aggressive on the constable. The action is not for the bus incident ,SI has taken a revenge and which is a crime in day light and crime in a uniform.

Why blame the SI for performing his duty just because the constable belonged to moslem community. What would have been your opinion if the assaulter been a sick moslem? Yes you people change colurs according to situation that suits you.

Well done Mr. Gopalkrishna Bhat, this kind of action would have been already taken. After police ordered that not to stand near front door in buses, why he was standing there and law is equal to all even to police or to common people.

Then again trying to influence by showing his identity. Now again talking about his religion to gain some support to him. From this kind of communal police person, how we can expect better piece in the city. If any incident happens these minority people misusing their Dharma to gain some mileage and support. And even media also sopporting this kind of people to prove them selves as secular. very shameful..

It is shame on the police department. The SI has no authority to drag anybody. If a person commits offence and refuse to obey the orders and threat to others then SI can drag him. Even after the constable identified himself then he should ask him to get down from the bus. SI to be punished with suspension and to apologise openly for the crime he has done.

Another important issue is abdul Jabbar himself has stated that bhat had caught his collar & pulled him out.for that will someone admit himself to a hospital.no injuries are visible & Jabbar has not stated whether he has injuries. There is a lot more in this case & jabbar too does not sound innocent.proper investigation will get things out
