Bijapur: Attempt to Rescue Kanchan Continues

Bijapur, Sep 4 (DHNS): The rescue operations to save 4-year-old Kanchan who fell in an open borewell in Devar Nimbaragi, Indi taluk, continued on Thursday.

The hard rock layer that has hit the work, continued to trouble the soldiers and other agencies involved, as the rock layer was found to be very deep.

The efforts of Maratha Light Infantry soldiers and Indian Army from Secunderabad have not yielded the expected results in view of the problems posed by soil and weather conditions.

A battery of experts from Hatti Gold Mines has been added to the rescue team. Intermittent rains continued to hinder the operations. The rock layer is still 10 feet thick and the blasting of which might go up till Friday morning. The team might be successful in rescuing the child by afternoon.
