Mangalore, Sep 5: A high voltage filmy drama by a couple, ‘very much in love’ with the boy clearly not in his senses, high on some substance that occurred on Kankanady-Old Pumpwell Road while grabbed the attention of the amused onlookers also created a nuisance blocking the traffic in the area for about half-an-hour, all this amid flash rains.

The boy riding a motor bike with a girl as a pillion rider visibly looked high on some substance. When the bike was moving haphazardly on the road, the girl sensing the danger jumped from the bike to save herself. The boy shocked by her reaction pleaded her to get on to the bike and professed his love for her. When the verbal scene between the duo followed, the traffic police intervened in the matter and took the key from the bike.

However, what followed was a high voltage drama that created a traffic snarl. The boy refused to budge and wanted the girl to accompany him and muttered repeatedly that he wanted to go to Goa when the police tried to take into their possession another beloved of his, the swanky bike he was riding on. The girl too was resolute enough to stay by the side of the boy assuring that she loved him though looked trifle embarrassed.

After much persuasion and force by the police, he refused to let go off his bike after kissing it to his heart’s content, which was enough for the crowd to be entertained forgetting the ordeal they had to face due to traffic jam. The boy has been taken into custody by the Kadri police and it is learnt that couple are the residents of Vamanjoor here.

Sudha: "Love Is Blind"... I agree for that. By the snaps, it seems the COPS have been drunk, else they wont treat humans like animals. Just because the person is not from political background, COPS are treating him in such a indecent manner & if the person was from political background or son of S.P, he would have been taken in full respect. How shameful for us Indian''s...

A very unfortunate incident for the couple. But the behaviour of the police seems shocking. Is that how you treat a person who is hardly aware of what is happening around him? I appreciate the girl who tried to stand by her partner inspite of being in public glare. The comments make the whole incident look like a movie scene, but for once do we know how to deal with a situation like this??? Gladson, i completely agree with you

Unless there is a breach of law and order or breaking up of rules, police cannot drag the guy like an animal. DK Police need to learn the manners, etiquetts, culture and decency while behaving with public, after all they are public servants not masters. Khaki uniform doesnot give right to haul & thrash anyone. I wonder how they got away in kulshekar attack on christians.

As said my some one, the police need to give training to handle any kind of offensive situation. They should always remain mild but firm & approach with dignity & respect. The accused too will reciprocate the similar way.

This kind of stupid drunken behaviour should not be encouraged by any sensible person. Sympathisers of evil doers are the biggest problem of today''s world. Cops you have done a great job. This treatment to this guy is not enough. You should have dragged him till the police station and treated him in such a way that he will never dare to create this kind of scene again. In India, there is no punishmnent which is the root cause of all problems relating to law and order.

Dear reader I wish to know what if a well known anti social element was in the place of this youth who was high on substances, my question is 1. Will the Police look the other way and ignore as if nothing has happened? 2.Will the police man handle him as they are doing here ? 3. Will the police take the keys of the vehicle ? 4. Assuming he is taken to the police station how will police treat him ? (rules only for commons)

The Police Handling of this nature of incident is totally unprofessional and uncalled for. You may give them marks 1 out of 10. It is that poor. Police in india are otherwise unprofessional handling situations like this. Probably they are not trained or taught. It is time the Seniors learn first and teach others. I don''t blame he couple, it happens while in love. Police must learn to respect the human being. I wish I could teach them, it is time to learn.

The Attitude by the Law keepers ( Kadri Police ) is really stupid. May be the youngster has done the mistake initially, may be under the influence of some substance or may be not . But the police being the law keepers have no right to act in this manner as his guy is not a criminal . There are lot of other ways which can be used legally . The have behaviour of the police makes the youngers keep grudge on the system as well as on the society. I really condem the inhuman & gooda act of the police.

well done DK police. thats the way to handle day light rogues. When India has 4 or 8 lane roads, very few people on the roads, less crime, handsome salaries for the and less than 8 hours of work for the Police, and when people are very responsible and civilized, the police will follow all humanrights and arrest the offenders with all the respect and dignity. Right now they have done a splendid job.

The picture quality of daiji is very good and the pictures carry a message to the general public that we are still under slavery of British Police system. The British police used canes to control mob and general public of India just because we were dark and poor. The Indian Police continued the same system carried the same wooden canes to control the people. I wonder under what traffic rule the police carry the boy as if he is a criminal.

The police should be booked and punished under the law of violating human rights. The Motor Veichle acts no where shows the right of the police to confiscate the Ignition key of a vehicle unless it is involved in carrying a banned item. Why you people of Mangalore entertain such inhumane acts of the police and just be mute spectators.

Not a single person have approached the couple and talk to the police to leave them alone. Is there a law in India that prohibits Man to carry his girl friend on his bike? The police behave like they are the Kings while on Uniform and often forget the Indian Constitutions and also forget that the salary comes from the tax payer general public. I strongly condemn the action of the police in the above incident.

Dear Gladson you are obviously spot-on about police attitude. Why this kind of dealing with common people. Although guy was wrong, but this incident once again proved that how much they are ridiculous and have un-civilised culture. First of all senior police officers have to teach their subordinates how to behave and interact with ordinary people especially in public places

Highly deplorable both on the part of the couple as well as police. God only knows what the couple had to settle between them on the middle of the busy road. This is not ''love'' but street play. See the number of persons gathered around for the free show. But more than this entire unexpected, unwanted and un-Mangalore tamasha, what is paining is the way police handled the boyu. Look how they are taking him to police station.

True he was under ''substance''. But it seems that even the police were high on some subtance. Was it was the only way to take him to the station? Four person pulling him from four ways as if it was an dead animal? Despite all his pranks which not acceptable to anhyone, he has his dignity has human. Why police don''t understand this? It feels disgusting to see police carry him like a dead man. And our respectable Mangaloreans, all of them are standing and watching the tamasha. Kudos to all..He could have well be carried in other ways such as holding his arms/shoulders and helping him to walk on. I am very sure he was that strong to protest that.

All those who have been speaking that Mangalore police are cultured and well-mannered, just see this. They are pulling him as if he provoked them or hit them. While I condemn what he did in public, I condemn the police in stronger words because they were in their senses, I guess! Entertainment at the cost of someone''s dignity, I think, is highly deploring and unaccepted. One has to put him/herself in that condition and see what he/her would have accepted.

People with bigger crime walk into police custody with royal treatment and this boy is pulled along like a got taken for slaughtering...Many of the readers may differ with me and feel otherwise. But I feel disgusted.

Anyhow congrats to Daya but. As usal you are spot on and without delay.
