Mangaluru: Muslim Central Committee shifts venue of anti-CAA protest to Adyar

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (MS)

Mangaluru, Jan 7: Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Muslim Central Committee, which was hell bent on carrying out a huge protest convention at Nehru Maidan of the city to oppose the controversial CAA and NRC amendment acts and also to create awareness about the same, has shifted the venue of the protest from Mangaluru to Adyar-Kannur on the outskirts of the city.

Dakshina Kannada and Udupi Muslim Central committee had earlier announced that it will conduct a peaceful protest against the central government acts of CAA and NRC on January 4 at Nehru Maidan, along with the cooperation of 28 other organizations. However, home minister of state Basavaraj Bommai had instructed the committee to postpone the same. City police commissioner also did not give approval for the protest convention citing many law and order situations. Later, the Muslim Central Committee had decided to postpone the same.

Now the committee has shifted the proposed protest venue from Mangaluru to Adyar and will hold the same on a spacious 15 acre of land in front of the Adyar Kannur central Juma Masjid. Committee leaders visited the place on Monday, January 6 and inspected the venue.

Discussion is also on for offering prayers in between the convention. The committee is also thinking of arranging space at three nearby Masjids to offer the Asar and Magrib prayers. The sources said that the date of the protest convention is likely to be finalized in the meeting that will be held on Tuesday, January 7.

Leaders of Muslim Central Committee Haji Kodijal Ibrahim, B M Mumtaz Ali, S M Rashid Haji, Hanif Haji Bunder, Basha Tangal, Salim Sufikhan and ACP Kodandarama of Mangaluru south sub division with Inspector Amanullah inspected the spot of protest on Monday, January 6.

    What's your problem with CAA when;
    1. It is not related to any Indian Citizens & their Citizenship so no question of equality.
    2. Its only providing citizenship to persecuted minorities in Pakistan, Bangladesh & Afghan.
    3. Majorities (in this case Muslims) from Pakistan, Bangladesh & Afghan will not apply since they never face persecution.
    Reasons for objecting may be;
    1. Muslims are not given citizenship under CAA because they are majorities in these countries.
    2. Worried about their population.
    3. Indirectly they are supporting Pakistani's to get easy citizenship.
SO WHY DEMONSTRATION, WHAT THEY NEED

    1) how is the government going to differentiate between persecuted minorities and illegal immigrants.
    2) Where are the conclusive numbers? There is no data with the government so as to how many people it is planning to give citizenship to.
3)There is no problem with the CAA giving citizenship to persecuted minorities but the problem comes when the CAA clearly specifies “no questioning of the people without any documents” and most likely illegal immigrants are reaping the benefits from the CAA.
    4) let the govt. first take care of the interests of its own people rather than giving shelter to illegal immigrants
    5) this protest is because it is Anti India not Anti Muslim!

So what's your problem now & why you not opposed when your Italian madam party proposed? But have you heard these protestors speech, they want citizenship for all.
If you believe in MKGadhiji it was him who said this during partition.
Hindus should have opposed CA because they included even Christians but we did not because persecution taking place in an Islamic country.
If any Hindu persecuted in Pakistan or anywhere in the world which is the country will accept him & give citizenship other than India? You have Italy, Rome, USA, UK but we have only Hindustan.

Every country has got its citizen's register.
In India the Congress government slept over doing this duty. We too need to have a citizen's register, sooner the better. India is not a country where anyone can come in and stay for whatever time they need. Illegal immigrants should be flushed out.

    Jossey,
    Please read attentively.
The countries listed on CAA are Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh, all Muslim Majority countries. There are ample evidences that the minorities are being persecuted there. Hence it is a humane gesture to accept minorities from these countries. A muslim from these countries has no reason to be persecuted there and seek refuge in India unless he has broken some laws there. We will not accept such people.
The simple explanation to your question is ," India do not accept Hindus from Srilanka, Nepal and Bhutan".

    Anna,
    Lets be logical,
There is clearly no love for illegal immigrants, flush out each and every illegal immigrant or follow the process.
Religion being a favour in the process of obtaining citizenship is not fair, let all the religiously prosecuted minorities come to India, live in India for 11 years and get citizenship through naturalisation where they undergo background check and multiple interviews to be a legal Indian citizen !!
    Whats the big deal ???
Giving citizenship scholastically just because of religion and mercy without knowing who these people are is against the very idea of India and a direct threat to national security. India is a secular nation not a banana republic where people like Amit Shah can openly speak in a manner like he picked up India in a morning jog.

    @ Jossey, Mumbai,
Refugees are those who have been forced to flee their countries as a result of war, natural calamities, religious persecution or political atrocities. Since minorities suffer persecution in three neighbouring countries, they have been forced to take refuge in India. There is no reason for Muslims to flee their country and come here as refugees. So Muslims who have come to the country are called migrants who are either legal or illegal. Legal migrants with valid passports and visas are eligible for Indian citizenship through the normal procedure of naturalization. Citizenship to legal migrants is not denied on the basis of religion. Hence there is no question of discrimination here except that citizenship to refugees (minorities in this case) is granted on humanitarian grounds.

    Dear Shankar,

The Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA )is unconstitutional, for both violating the text of the Constitution but also going fundamentally against one of the basic features of the Constitution.

NRC / PNR is not possible because it will effect all Indian Poor and Tribal people who are pending on daily wages for their livelyhood. You are a educated person try to understand. Even freedom fighter Doraiswamy also opposing these draconian laws (NRC / CAA / NPR).

    CAA is not anti-constitutional.
If you are referring to Article 14, it applies only Indian citizens. It is not applicable to a refuge seeking foreigner. It will be applicable to him only after he gets a citizenship.

It may be waste of time for people like you who are majority in this country.

for minorities like us, we need to protest. Otherwise the team of Ranga and Billa at Delhi will come up with all nonsense amendments and there will be civil war and systematic culling of minorities.

If Mahatma Gandhi did not protest against the rule of British, India would never have got independence. Similiary, in a democratic set up one needs to protest if he or she feels threatened.

Only when this country, which is secular as per constitution is declared officially as Hindu Nation like Nepal, then whatever the madmax duo is doing holds fine.

So keep your gyan with you. We will do what we want. In fact, not only Muslims but even sane Hindus are against the draconian bills brought out by the crooks daku and feku.

Mohit, just to remind you of history, the first struggle of Independence was started by Muslims and later every Indian joined... You don't dream that such protest will have no impact. Every sensible Indian who cares of India's beautiful constitution will join and has already showing up gradually. This is a struggle against to protect Ambedkars constitution vs Golwalkars constitution, Securlarism vs Fascism, Peace vs Violence, Tiranga vs RSS and it's affiliates BJP Bhagwa, Democracy vs Dictatorship, to name a few....

Ruling party has already felt the tremor of this protest and hence they too started procession door to door in support as well, miss call syndromes etc.

You are either not mature or not willing to understand the power of democracy.
Just to remind you India didn't get the freedom with any single protest or in a single day. It took decades of struggle.....

No matter how hard the central government try to stop the agitation and protest or through social media, but this is just the beginning, this is just the beginning of 2nd Freedom struggle against Fascists rule.
