Udupi, Oct 10: A three-day street play training programme by internationally-renowned trainer Jagan Pawar Bekal concluded at St Mary’s College, Shirva, on Thursday October 8.

The training was organized by the department of MSW of St Mary’s College and street plays were staged by the trainees in Shirva town, near here, on Thursday evening.

Street plays are a very simple yet powerful means of reaching out to the common people. They present reality and initiate public responses to their own problems and shortcomings.

The plays enacted in Shirva town were on different themes like alcoholism, cleanliness, and the adverse effects of the recent floods.

St Mary’s College principal Dr John Clarence Miranda, dean Fr Edwin D’Souza, Shirva Our Lady of Health assistant parish priest Fr Fredrick Monteiro, and other staff members were present on the occasion.

The street plays attracted a large number of people.
