Mangalore: Three District Policemen Go Missing in Dharwad

Mangalore, Oct 22: Three policemen of the District Armed Reserve Police have been reported missing after they attempted to pursue a convict who escaped from their custody near Halanavara, Dharwad, on Thursday October 22.

The incident occurred as several inmates of Manglore sub-jail were being transferred to Hindalaga Jail in Belgaum.

As per police sources, the three policemen entered a forest in pursuit of escapee Arif.

Three convicts had tried to escape from the vehicle they were travelling in. However, two of these were re-arrested, said sources.

Those whose escape was thwarted are Ramesh and Narayan. Police said that jail authorities contacted Dharwad police for further assistance.
