Mangaluru: Cyanide Mohan gets life term for killing lady from Badiadka

Mangaluru, Feb 18: The sixth additional district and sessions court here has found serial killer, Cyanide Mohan, guilty of promising a lady from Koltajepade village within the limits of Badiadka plolice station in Kasargod, taking her to Mysuru, raping her,and then offering her cyanide tablet by claiming it to be birth control pill. The court handed him life term imprisonment and Rs 35,000 fine.

Judge of the court, Sayeedunnisa, who found that charges levelled against Mohan have been proved, handed him life term sentence for the crime. Mohan also has been imposed with a fine of Rs 55,000.

Mohan had come in contact with a lady aged 23 years who was working as bidi roller and also worked at Campco office at Badiadka, when she attended a marriage in 2006 where Mohan also was present. He told her that he is of her caste and expressed interest to marry her. On June 3, 2006, the lady had left home with the stated purpose of visiting the temple, but was not seen thereafter, Mohan had taken her to a lodge at Mysuru where he spent a night with her and raped her. On the next day, in the guise of puja, he led her to KSRTC bus stand where he offered her cyanide pill, duly making her believe that it was birth control pill. She went into the toilet, consumed the tablet, and died there.

The lady's parents, who had filed missing complaint in Badiadka station, later came to know that Mohan was involved with her murder after Mohan was arrested in 2009. They then filed complaint in Lashkar police station at Mysuru.

Public prosecutor Judith O M Crasta and Jayaram Shetty had represented the prosecution in the case.
