Karwar: Lifeguards rescue pilgrims facing grave danger at sea

Karwar, Feb 22: Three persons from Belagavi district, who had arrived at Gokarna for observing Shivaratri festival, were facing the prospects of losing their lives in the sea on Friday February 21. All the three had got caught in the undercurrent.

The pilgrims who faced danger have been identified as Abhijeet Sawant (19), Mahesh K S (23), and Madesh Gadikar (28). The life guards saved their lives with their prompt action.

Lifeguards, Mohan Ambiga, Vishwas Bhat and Harish Harikantra used water bikes of Om Water Sports and saved the lives of the three who were dragged far away into the sea. Supervisor Ravi Naik, and personal water craft driver Ramesh Poojary, helped the lifeguards in the task.
