Mumbai: Havyaka Welfare Trust gives away Karki Venkataramana Shastri awards

Mumbai, Feb 25: Havyaka Welfare Trust held their annual ‘Karki Venkataramana Shastri Soori Awards 2020’ function at Havyakara auditorium, Ghatkoper (West) on Sunday, February 23.

Head of the department of Kannada in Mumbai University, Dr G N Upadhya, chief guest lighted the lamp and released ‘Samaja Snehi NR Hegde’ book written by Shanta Shastri. Vishnu Bhagwat introduced the book, NR Hegde praised the book.

The programme was presided over by Havyaka trust president Shivakumar P Bhagwat in the cooperation of Karnataka Malla Kannada daily newspaper. Sanskrit college Merukote retired principal Vidwan Umakanth Bhat was present as guest of honour.

Aparna Bhat sang a prayer and award committee convener Tanuja Hegde welcomed the gathering. Shashikala Hegde gave an introduction and Shanta Bhat read the messages of elite people. Trust vice-president Sanjay Bhat, honorary chief secretary Narayana R Akadasa, honorary treasurer AG Bhat felicitated the guests. Poornima Akadasa read the letter of felicitation. Award committee convener Chidananda Bhagwat introduced the guests. Trust’s monthly organ ‘Havyaka Sandesha’ editor, advocate Amita S Bhagwat compered the programme. Roopa Bhat rendered the vote of thanks.
‘Sharasetu Bandhana’ Yakshagana play was performed in the leadership of Keshava Hegde and the Havyaka Welfare artistes presented a cultural programme.
