Puttur: Jamaat Urges Abolition of Lottery System in Haj Quotas

Puttur, Nov 8: Muslim United Jamaat here has urged to abolish quota systems through which the MPs, ministers and external affairs ministry select Haj pilgrims citing gross misuse of the government quotas.

Addressing presspersons, jamaat vice-president K R Husain Darimi said that lottery system existing under government quota is being misused and poor people, who are aspire to undertake Haj pilgrimage are being denied the opportunity. Money and political power is ruling the roost, he alleged.

Through commercialization of Haj pilgrimage, government and private organizations are cheating people. An awareness programme in this regard will be held, he said. Darimi further urged Central Haj Committee and centre to take stringent measures against rampant misuse in the name of Haj pilgrimage. 

Jamaat president Haji S Ibrahim Kammadi was present.
