Puttur: 210 people donate blood at Young Brigade Trophy-2020

Puttur, Feb 29: Young Brigade Seva Dal, Puttur hosted two day's full ground Underarm Cricket Tournament for Young Brigade Trophy-2020, through blood donation on February 29, 2020, at Junior College ground, Kombettu. The tournament was inaugurated through donating blood on February 20, during which talented players from Puttur taluk representing 32 teams were present.

First-ever cricket tournament in the history of Underarm Cricket was held by donating blood. Out of 32 teams who locked horn against each other in the tournament, minimum of five players from each team voluntarily came forward to donate blood instead of paying entry fees to get qualified into the tournament.



The blood donation camp was organised in association with Blood Helpline Karnataka (R) and collaboration with AJ Hospital Mangaluru and Yenepoya Hospital, Deralakatte. A total of 210 individuals donated blood to make it huge and successful blood donation camp.

Young Brigade Salmara and Young Brigade Bannoor won prizes for donating the highest units of blood.

Ranjith Bangera president of Young Brigade Puttur inaugurated the Camp by donating blood himself. President of Young Brigade Vittla and Uppinangady, Abhishek Bellippadi, member of Puttur Town Panchayath Mohammad Riyaz, secretary of Young Brigade Puttur Lokesh Paddaayoor, treasurer of Young Brigade Shareef Balnad, organising secretaries of Young Brigade Puttur Prakash Purusharakatte and Monu Bappalige, members of Young Brigade Puttur Jayesh Karjaal, Nawaz Salmara, Sinan Parladka and administrators of Blood Helpline Karnataka were present.

In the valedictory ceremony held on Feb 29, president of Puttur block Congress Mohammad Badagannur and president of Sevadal Jockim D'Souza addressed the gathering and praised the organisers for hosting such a noble cause. State president of Young Brigade Junaid PK, members of Young Brigade and administrators of Blood Helpline Karnataka were present during the valedictory ceremony.

The closing ceremony of two days cricket tournament and prize distribution ceremony was held on Mar 1, 2020.

Organisers heartily thanked all the donors for stepping forward to donate blood, hospital staff, representatives from various media, volunteers, and all those who had contributed directly and indirectly for the success of the program.
