Mangaluru, Mar 3: Coronavirus infection, which has spread to 60 countries and claimed over 3,000 lives so far, has also rung alarm bells in Karnataka with the detection of its infection in a software engineer who was working at Bengaluru.

As a precautionary measure, high alert has been sounded at the airport. People arriving by ship are also being subjected to scrutiny.

The techie in question, who is from Hyderabad, had visited Bengaluru and worked with some colleagues. He was diagnosed with Coronavirus infection within two days of his returning to Hyderabad. Now efforts are being made to check those with whom he had come in contact when he was in Bengaluru.

Screening of passengers coming by flights is on. An isolation ward has been created in Wenlock Hospital for people showing symptoms of Coronavirus infection. People are being repeatedly advised to take care against exposing themselves to the risk of contracting this deadly disease.
