Puttur, Nov 9: “The Fatwa issued by certain Muslim organizations against the singing of the anthem, ‘Vande Mataram’ is condemnable. If the virtuous and well-meaning people own silence on topics like this, the wicked people will get an upper hand and added confidence,” opined veteran researcher and writer, Dr Chidananda Murty.

He was speaking at a programme of lecture, book release and felicitation, organized at Guru Bhavan here on Sunday November 8, by Bharat Vikasa Parishat’s Vivekananda branch here.

“Christian priests in India nurture an ambition to ensure that all the Indians become Christians. The missionaries have been engineering religious conversions through the lure of money,” he alleged. Murty demanded for the enactment of anti-conversion laws in Karnataka, on the lines of the existing laws in Madhya Pradesh and Orissa. “Letters written on this issue by heads of various Mutts, judges, established writers etc., have been handed over to the Chief Minister, and there have been positive vibes from the state government on this demand,” he claimed.

A work, ‘Apartha Mattu Akramanagalige Tuttada Hindu Dharma - 5 (Hinduism, which has become prey to invasions and misunderstanding)’ authored by Murty, was released by Erya Lakshminarayana Alva, chancellor of Bharata Sanskrit Pratishtana.

Puttur unit president of the Vikasa Parishad, Subrahmanya Nattoji, Parameshwar Bhat, secretary, Prashant Rao, Ravi Chakravarti and Dr Sudha were present.
