Bangalore: High Court Judge Faces Agitating Advocates' Ire

Daijiworld Media Network - Bangalore (SP)

Bangalore, Nov 9: In what could be termed as an incident that is first of its kind in the state High Court, one of the High Court judges was assaulted in the court hall by angry advocates.

It may be recalled that the advocates had decided to boycott the court proceedings on Monday November 9, in an attempt to exert pressure on the High Court Chief Justice, P D Dinakaran not to attend hearings till his name is cleared.

The Chief Justice had left the court hall earlier, because of the strong protests of the advocates. When Justice Gopala Gowda, who was presiding a division bench of the HC along with Justice Nagaratna, refused to adjourn the hearing as sought by the advocates, an agitated group of advocates threw books at him, before rushing to the podium and assaulting him.
