Bangalore, Nov 11: Leader of the opposition in the legislative council, V S Ugrappa, has demanded for the convening of the legislature session immediately, so that people can get clear answers to various doubts that have cropped up in their minds over the political drama that has unfolded in the state during the last couple of weeks.

'People have been hurt. Flood-affected people feel forlorn. However, the BJP leaders have succeeded in providing some entertainment to the people'  he ridiculed, at a press conference held here on Tuesday November 10.

'If the Chief Minister(CM) and his cabinet colleagues have faith in the Indian constitution and democracy, they should clear the doubts in the minds of the people. The BJP's  manifesto said that the party would do away with political instability and provide stable governance that is responsive to the demands of the people. The budget was accompanied by the catchy slogan, 'equal opportunities for the beggars and the Lords'.  What are the steps taken by the government to stop corruption and to save the state from financial bankruptcy? What are the objectives of the recent steps? Are they meant for stabilizing the government or destabilizing it?'  he queried.

He recollected that Yeddyurappa had, while speaking at Shimoga recently, criticized the government officials for creating problems for petty transporters, who are engaged in transporting crushed stones and sand from forest areas, while failing to stop the loot of ore worth thousands of crores of rupees in Bellary. He also had transferred officials, but has cancelled the transfers since then. What then, are the achievements of the CM?, he questioned derisively.

He also wanted clarifications from the CM about the traitors and terrorists he was surrounded with, as referred by him in his own statements. What has the CM done now, after declaring brazenly that he would not allow the state to be mortgaged?, he wanted to know. Ugrappa even sought clarification from the CM on the questions raised by Shobha Karandlaje about the reasons for dropping her from the cabinet, and also about the way the dignity of the speaker's post having been undermined because of the recent developments.
