Udupi: Coronovirus - Report of two turns negative, two more admitted to hospital

Udupi, Mar 14: The medical report of two students who were admitted to hospital on Thursday, March 12 on suspected coronavirus infection has turned negative. These students, who are natives of Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, had been to USA and Malaysia and had returned to Manipal. This information was shared by district health officer Dr Sudhirchandra Sooda.

In the meantime, one more student, native of Dubai was admitted to Manipal hospital as his health deteriorated. The throat culture of him is sent to laboratory in Shivamogga. The report is expected on Saturday, March 14. The throat culture sample of 68-year-old woman of Anandapura in Sagar taluk of Shivamogga district is sent again for check as there was no improvement in her condition in spite of the first report turning negative.

A 37-year-old person of Shirva is admitted to the Udupi district hospital. He was on a ship in Japan when the coronavirus infection started a month ago. He was checked for infection in Hong Kong for 14 days and then released. After reaching Shirva, the man though did not develop any cough, cold or fever, suffered from dysentery, stomach pain and slight breathing issues. So he got admitted to the district hospital. His throat culture is also sent to Shivamogga for check.

Manipal University has cancelled all its scheduled programmes for the time being. This information was given by chancellor of MAHE Dr Narayan Sabahith.

More rush than usual was noticed in the malls of the city on Friday evening. People were mainly buying essentials than cloth and cosmetics.
