Chamarajnagar: Two arrested for spreading false news on social media on coronavirus

Chamarajnagar, Mar 14: Police have arrested two people, who were spreading false news on social media about coronavirus epidemic.

The arrested are identified as Lokesh, resident of Kavudavadi of Chamarajnagar taluk and Nagendra, resident of Neelakantanagar of Nanjanagud taluk. The duo had posted that a young man and woman are infected with coronavirus.

The culprits had posted pictures of Mahesh of Kabballi and Sahana of Nanjanagud and posted that both have the dreaded coronavirus infection. This video had gone viral as many people shared the same.

District health officer brought this to the notice of SP Anandkumar as per the instructions of DC Dr M C Ravi. SP directed the police to arrest both. Now it is unearthed that the accused have spread this rumour due to personal enmity.

Both the accused are sent to judicial custody.
