Udupi: MP Shobha Karandlaje takes part in coronavirus awareness programme

Udupi, Mar 21: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje took part in the coronavirus awareness programme in several places in the district today. She set in motion the awareness campaign by washing hands at Indrali railway station, City bus stand and district hospital. Water pipe connection is provided in the railway station and city bus stand to maintain cleanliness.

Speaking to news reporters later, she said that International airport is completely closed these days. “A request is made to the concerned union minister to construct new lab in Mangaluru-Udupi to detect the virus. Sufficient supply of masks and sanitary items are arranged,” she said.

“The government is prepared for a war. This is a huge war. There should be no party or politics in it. It is more disastrous than war. No sickness comes looking at the party. We have to control ourselves one day. Action is taken to prevent gatherings in groups. The hard situation may continue till next months. All the offices are asked to keep necessary items for cleanliness for now,” she said. She thanked the health department and the media for their service.

“Manipal KMC hospital has been asked to respond to emergency situation. SDM in Ujire has agreed to allow 150 beds for the service. New library building in the city will also be used. International NRI hostels in Manipal have also been asked to vacate,” she said.

Udupi deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha said that check posts are erected at the entrance points to Uttara Kannada and Dakshina Kannada in the district. “Scarcity of thermal scanners will be solved soon. Courts are directed to hold case hearings only during emergencies,” he said.

MLA Raghupathi Bhat, commissioner Anand Kallolikar, BJP district president Kuiladi Suresh Nayak, Sudha Krishnamurthy, PRO railways were present.

MP Shobha Karandlaje inspects coronavirus control actions

Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje took stock of the actions taken by district administration to control coronavirus in the district.

She obtained at the deputy commissioner’s office, details of actions taken in the district from deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh Bhat and DHO Dr Sudhir Chandra Sooda and asked them to identify suitable place to admit suspected virus victims and patients during emergency situations. She also asked to prepare a room at KMC Manipal and Udyavar’s Ayurveda hospital. The MP inspected the medical reports of suspected victims, those in home quarantines and coronavirus patients and asked to store necessary items in sufficient quantities.

She later visited and inspected the centre in Ajjarkadu kept ready to admit suspected Coronavirus victims.

MLA Raghupathi Bhat, zilla panchayat president Dinakar Babu, additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, Dr Prashanth Bhat and Dr Vasudeva Upadhyaya were present.
