Bengaluru: Chief minister Yediyurappa appeals public to support Janata Curfew

Bangalore, Mar 21: Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa has appealed to the people to extend full support to the call of Prime Minister NarendraModifor a day-long voluntary Janata Curfew on Sunday.

“Karnataka government has so for dealing successfully in containing the Covid-19 virus. This has happened because of people’s co-operation. Meanwhile, Prime minster has given a clarion call for a Janata curfew on Sunday from morning 7 to 9 pm and you people have extended both moral and societal support to this unique curfew,’’ he said.

Yediyurappa said, "My appeal to people on behalf of Prime minister Narendra Modiji is, do not come on roads and out of your dwellings immediately after Nine in the night when curfew time ends. Remain settled in your houses and bungalows avoiding all public appearances on roads and other public places.”

“Your coming out in open can nullify the 14 hour measure to contain the spread of virus. As cooperation to authorities and the society, please remain indoors and stay with your near and dear ones”.

He also said, "Do not forget to appear at the window sides and on the rooftops to involve in a bout of applause as a mark of appreciation to people involved in containing the spread of virus and treating the diseased.’’

Meanwhile, Bengaluru City Police Commissioner Bhaskar Rao has requested the people to cooperate with the police, who will be monitoring the city, and not to argue with them in maintaining that the voluntary Janata curfew is successfully implemented. He, however, warned that anybody arguing or causing problems with be taken into custody and booked under IPC Section 169 for negligent action likely to cause spread of infectious disease dangerous to life and also under Karnataka Police Act.
