Mangaluru: Magisterial inquiry - Hearing postponed because of coronavirus

Mangaluru, Mar 23: The magisterial inquiry sitting that was proposed to be held at the court hall of the assistant commissioner's office here on March 23 has been postponed because of coronavirus threat. This was stated by Udupi district deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh, who is heading the magisterial inquiry into the December 19 firing in the city.

Many including city police commissioner here, Dr P S Harsha have already recorded their statements before the commission. On March 24, Dakshina Kannada deputy commissioner and the assistant commissioner were to record their statements. He said that the new dates of sitting will be intimated later.

The government had fixed March 23 as the date for submission of the inquiry report. The same has been extended by a month at the request of the inquiry officer. A petition filed against the police firing in the high court is slated to come up for hearing on April 21.
