Only 14% global population using gloves: Survey

New Delhi, March 23 (IANS): As many as 60 per cent of the residents in one of the worst affected nations by Covid-19, Italy, have still not adopted the practice of wearing hand gloves to protect themselves from the deadly virus, the IANS-C-VOTER Gallup International Association COVID Tracker 1 has found.

But according to the survey conducted among over 20,000 respondents from 22 countries, the Italians were still ahead of the global numbers, in which only 14 per cent of the respondents said that they were using gloves to protect themselves against the deadly virus.

The least performing nation among the others was Turkey where only 2 per cent of the respondents said that they were wearing gloves, while 98 per cent spoke against it.

Turkey was followed by the Netherlands where 96 per cent of the respondents said that they had not taken to wearing gloves.

In India, where the number of Covid-19 cases has risen to 415 on Monday, only 7 per cent of the respondents said that they were using gloves.

For the survey, in each country a representative sample of the population was interviewed over the last two weeks either face-to-face, via telephone or online.
