Mumbai, Sep 12: Salman Khan’s upcoming war drama _Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace_, earlier titled _Battle of Galwan_, is expected to announce its release date after the film is screened by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), according to sources.

The film has generated considerable anticipation among moviegoers, with the makers reportedly nearing completion of the project.

A source close to the film said only some VFX work remains and that the makers will announce the release date once the film has gone through the required final processes, including its CBFC screening.

“_Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace_ is almost ready. Just a few portions of the VFX are still in process, and the film is going to offer an absolutely spectacular theatrical experience like never before,” the source said.

“As soon as all the relevant departments, including the CBFC, have watched the film, the makers will announce the release date. As of now, the censor board has not seen the film. Further updates will follow once the film reaches its final stage ahead of its public release,” the source added.

Directed by Apoorva Lakhia, the film is a cinematic adaptation of the June 15, 2020 Galwan Valley clash between Indian and Chinese troops.

The story focuses on Colonel Santosh Babu, portrayed by Salman Khan, and soldiers of the 16 Bihar Regiment, who were tasked with enforcing a disengagement agreement along the Line of Actual Control (LAC).

Produced under Salman Khan Films, the movie also stars Chitrangda Singh as the female lead.

Meanwhile, Salman’s upcoming projects include Vamshi Paidipally’s _SVC 63_, co-starring Nayanthara, and an untitled thriller being developed by Raj & DK.

Salman has also returned as the host of the reality show _Bigg Boss 20_.
