Kasargod: Man loses life as truck tumbles near Kumble

Kasargod, Mar 24: A lorry transporting equipment needed for borewell machines, tripped and fell across the road on Sunday night. The accident took away the life of a person, while another survived with serious injuries.

Janata Curfew was on all over India then. But the lorry driver planned to get the diesel tank of his vehicle refilled. He was driving the truck to Talapadiy from Bandyodu Pachchambala when the lorry went out of his control on the national highway at Kukkaru and fell by its side. Two persons of Jharkhand origin, who were seated in the rear side of the truck got stuck among heavy pipes loaded in the back and were seriously injured. Manjeshwar police said that both of them were admitted into hospital but one of them died there.

The lorry driver fled from the scene of the accident. The police have undertaken an investigation. So far, the identity of the deceased could not be established.
