Mangaluru, Mar 24: As countries all over have banned flights and sealed their borders. having been devastated by the serious threat posed by coronavirus infection, thousands of people who were away from the country for long or short trips for employment, internship etc are clueless about their future. These people, whose future plans have suddenly been hijacked by a coronavirus, have been seeking help from the government, ministers, officials etc, asking them to see that they would be able to come back home safely.

Indians in large numbers are waiting in Malaysia, USA, England and the Gulf region, to return to India. As international flights have been cancelled, they have got stranded there. Many among them have formed a WhatsApp group through which they have been trying to inform the Indian government about their current plight. Mangaluru KMC MBBS students, Naveen Mallya and Mahima Gupta, both of whom are in Malaysia now, say that their efforts so far have gone in vain.

Karnataka health minister, B Sriramulu, had said that arrangements would be made to help them if they send him their e-mails, but nothing positive happened after the mails were sent, it is learnt. A large number of tweets were made by Indians stuck abroad to the government, officials, ministers and people's representatives, and some replied to them assuring of necessary assistance. However, their assurances have remained on paper, many lament.

Prannoy Ghosh, currently stuck in Malaysia, says in social website that he and his wife are in a hotel there. He says that all his money has been spent, and they cannot buy even food now. He has sought help to somehow come back to India.

Padmalata from Hyderabad, employed in Malaysia, is eight months pregnant. She was preparing to come to India for delivery but the flight services have been suspended. She too has become directionless now.
