Bengaluru, Mar 24:Three-term BJP MLA, Anand Mamani, has been unanimously elected as the new Deputy Speaker of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly on Tuesday.

Mamani is representing the Saudatti Legislative Assembly constituency in the Belagavi district and holds a B.Com degree.

Mamani’s election took place following the resignation of Krishna Reddy of the Janata Dal(S) last week. Reddy resigned from the office as the ruling BJP proposed to move a non-confidence motion against him.

Now, the ruling BJP has its own elected members assumed office as the Speaker in Vishveshwara Hegde Kageri and the Deputy Speaker Mamani.
