Beltangady: Government hospital reserved exclusively for coronavirus suspects

Beltangady, Mar 27: Local MLA Harish Punja, said that the government hospital here would be exclusively reserved for admitting coronavirus suspects as inpatients.

He discussed this issue with medical officers in the taluk, police, and other officials at the travellers' bungalow here on Wednesday, March 25. He said that the outpatient department, however, will continue to function as before.

Poonja said that there is no other option before him as other patients who might be undergoing treatment at the hospital run the risk of contracting coronavirus infection if such patients are treated along with them. "In emergency cases, people coming from the rural belt who are in need of urgent treatment, would be provided free service in private hospitals by admitting them as inpatients, and arrangements have been made for the same," he stated.

The MLA said that the emergency workforce's war room has been formed in the mini Vidhana Soudha building here. People can call this number to seek advice for their problems and shortage of essential medicines if the same is felt. Phone numbers, 08256-232047 or 9901212207 (MLA office) may be contacted by the needy, he said.
