Mangaluru, Mar 27: South Canara District Central Cooperative (SCDCC) Bank president, Dr M N Rajendra Kumar, urged the people to join hands with the efforts being made by the central and state governments to tackle coronavirus that is spreading rapidly and has posed serious challenges. "To support the humanitarian cause and social concern pursued by the Prime Minister and the chief minister, he said that the SCDCC Bank would be donating one crore rupee, Karnataka State Cooperative Apex Bank will contribute Rs 50 lac, while employees of SCDCC Bank will donate a day's salary. He added that Navodaya Grama Vikasa Charitable Trust will donate masks worth Rs 50,000.
He urged entrepreneurs, cooperative societies and the people to extend maximum financial assistance for this task. He added that it is the duty of everyone associated with the cooperative sector to provide financial support, medical equipment and other things to handle this exigency.

He asked the people to respond to the pleas made by the chief minister and minister for cooperation, S T Somashekhar, by making donations to the credit of account no 505/757 of Covid-19 Relief Fund with SCDCC Bank Kodialbail branch Mangaluru through cash/cheques/RTGS. The money so collected would be handed over to the chief minister through the district in-charge minister, Kota Srinivas Poojary and minister for cooperation, S T Somashekhar.
